We at Cairdeas Childcare are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our staff and children. To ensure this we carry out the following:

Building:

  • We have a fire drill practice every month.

  • We carry out a monthly premises inspection.

  • We carry out a risk assessment on the building on a monthly basis.

Children and Staff:

Under the Children First National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children 1999, and "Our Duty to Care" Department of Health and Children 2002 it is our duty and responsibility as a childcare organisation to accept and recognise our responsibilities to develop awareness of the practices which cause children harm.

We in Cairdeas Childcare want to make sure that children are protected and kept safe from harm while they are with staff and volunteers in the organisation. We do this by:

  • Making sure that our staff and volunteers are carefully selected, trained and supervised.

  • Giving parents, children and workers information about what we do and what you expect from us.

  • Reporting Procedures are clear to staff, volunteers and parents.

  • A Code of Behaviour is in place for all staff and volunteers.

  • Guidelines for the general safety and management of activities

Health and Safety:

Our safety statement sets out the general policy of Cairdeas Childcare and the aim of the policy is to do all that is reasonably practicable to secure the safety, health and welfare of our staff whilst at work and all others affected by our work. We endeavour to comply with all legal enactments relating to safety, health and welfare at work. All our staff are familiar with the safety statement and any other person visiting or entering our facility is free to read it.
