A programme of care is developed for each care group in the facility.

Once a child starts with us an Individual Developmental Checklist is carried out and programme commences for that child within the care group.

This Programme travels from room to room as the child progresses through the facility and ensures that each child’s learning, development and wellbeing is facilitated within the daily life of the service through the provision of appropriate opportunities, experiences, activities, interaction, materials and equipment having regard to the age of the child and the child’s cultural context.

This continuity of care facilitates the emotional, social and cognitive development of the child and ensures each child’s learning development and well being is being met. This programme of care is reviewed periodically.

To enhance this programme, observations are carried out on a regular basis and the information gained in these observations is used to plan any specific activities that may be appropriate to the child’s development.

We are also enhancing the range of activities carried out by the children in each room and the success or otherwise of these activities will be recorded and used to improve the quality of service provided.

Children from the age of 3 months up to the age of 14 years are catered for in Cairdeas Childcare on a part-time and full-time basis. The facility can accommodate 64 children under 5 years of age at any given time. These children are grouped loosely by age but mainly by their stage of development and the childs ability to adjust to the new environment.
